Bruxelles Day 2

Ciao a tutti!

Oggi vi racconto un po’ del secondo giorno che ho passato con la mia amica Agnese a Bruxelles. Purtroppo non era una bella giornata, ma noi non ci siamo fatte fermare dal brutto tempo e siamo partite al mattino presto. Con il tram siamo arrivate in centro e poi a piedi abbiamo raggiunto la Grand Place. Questa piazza è davvero stupenda e tutti gli edifici che si affacciano sono molto decorati e addobbati. Purtroppo non c’era il tipico tappeto di fiori centrale, ma credo che con la pioggia non ce lo saremmo comunque godute appieno. Qui si trova anche il Musée de la Ville che è molto grande e per questo ci ha richiesto 2 ore e mezza per visitarlo tutto completamente. Il biglietto per noi studenti è costato 4€. La parte che mi ha colpito di più sono i vestitini che sono stati regalati alla statua del Manneken Pis da vari persone ed enti famosi. Dopo questo museo abbiamo visto il Municipio da fuori, che è sempre uno degli edifici che si affaccia su questa meravigliosa piazza. Dopo pranzo abbiamo deciso di viziarci un po’ e siamo andata a Choco Story, ovvero il museo del cioccolato belga dove spiegano anche come cucinare le loro tipiche praline! Il biglietto è costato 5€ per noi studenti e secondo me ne vale la pena. Dopo questa pausa “cioccolatosa” siamo andate a vedere dal vivo la statua del Manneken Pis. Me l’aspettavo più grande però la leggenda che ci sta dietro è molto interessante. Infatti si racconta che questo bambino abbia fatto la pipì per cercare di spegnere una miccia lanciata per dare fuoco alla città. Mentre passeggiavamo abbiamo anche visto l’Église de bon secours, Halles de Saint Géry, l’Église aux Riches Claires e le Galeries royales Saint-Hubert (composte da galerie du roi e galerie de la reine). Poi siamo andate a visitare il Coudenberg. In realtà volevamo visitare anche il museo Belvue, ma visto che non avevamo più molto tempo abbiamo deciso di esplorare i sotterranei. Il biglietto è costato 5€ e abbiamo avuto la possibilità di visitare il sito archeologico di alcuni vecchi palazzi e cappelle. Infine, visto che ormai era tutto chiuso, abbiamo visto il Palais Royale e la Bourse dall’esterno.

Today I want to tell you what me and my friend Agnese did the second day we were in Brussels. Unfortunately wasn’t a sunny day, but we didn’t give it so much consideration and we leave early in the morning to have enough time to see different things during the day. We took the tram to reach the city center and then we walked to the Grand Place. This square is really beautiful and all the facing building are very rich decorated. Unfortunately there wasn’t the typical flower garden in the middle of the square, but I think it was ok because in rainy days is not the best. In this square there is the Musée de la Ville, which is really big and for this reason it took us 2 hours and a half to visit it all. The ticket for student is 4€. The thing I liked the most were the clothes that the Manneken Pis receive from all over the world. After this museum we see the town hall from outside. After lunch we decided to get some sweetness at the Choco Story, a Belgian chocolate museum where you can also learn how to make pralines. The ticket is 5€ and I think is a really great museum because you can also taste different kinds of chocolate and their typical biscuits “speculoos”. After we walked to reach the real statue and fountain of the Manneken Pis. I was expecting it a bit bigger, but the legend behind it it’s really interesting. The legend tells that this kid was peeing to extinguish a fuse which was catching fire the city. During our walk around the city we visit also the Église de bon secours, Halles de Saint Géry, the Église aux Riches Claires and the Galeries royales Saint-Hubert (which are the galerie du roi and the galerie de la reine). Then we went visit the Coudenberg. At the beginning we want to visit also the Belvue museum, but we haven’t enough time, so we decided to explore the underground of the old city. The ticket was 5€ and we had the possibility to visit the archeological site of some old buildings and chapels. Lastly, due of the closing time of the attractions, we saw the Palais Royale and the Bourse from the outside.
